Best of Gannett Winner: Engagement – 2020
I spearheaded Reviewed’s COVID-19 Resource Guide which was awarded Best of Gannett in 2020. The coverage served readers during a time when hoarding, price gouging, and misinformation was rampant. Our coverage helped readers find in-stock hand sanitizer and toilet paper, uncover the most protective mask options, transition to at-home schooling and working, and keep connected to friends and family from the confines of their homes.
Emerging Leaders Certificate of Achievement – 2022
In 2022, I completed Gannett’s Emerging Leaders program, a course designed for new managers to gain greater knowledge about managing people and achieve job growth. Participants are selected through a nomination process and must meet criteria such as exceeds performance expectations and demonstrates motivation and ability to master leadership.
Chairman’s Recognition Program – 2020
In 2020, I received a Chairman’s Award from Gannett CEO Mike Reed. The award program recognizes the contributions of individuals that are keeping the community strong and enabling Gannett to support communities through important and impactful products and services.
I was awarded this prestigious honor for spearheading Reviewed’s COVID-19 coverage. The COVID-19 coverage was awarded Best of Gannett 2020, an award that recognizes extraordinary journalism.
Gannett Greatest Awards Nominee – 2023
In 2023, I was nominated for a Gannett Greatest Award by my boss Ben Garves. This is a peer award program made to recognize and celebrate the contributions of employees who support the company’s missions, goals, and achievements. His submission reads as follows:
“Yeah, a customer obsession could be considered table stakes for a Head of Audience, but the way Rachel applies it to her work takes it above and beyond. She’s focused not only on the experience our visitors have once they make it into our ecosystem, but on who they are, where they are, what their motivations are, what can make their lives easier, and how we can surprise and delight them. She’s not afraid to ask questions, advocate for the right things even when they mean more work, and she has a vision for the future of the experiences we deliver.”
Future Focus Program – 2022
In 2022, I completed the Future Focus development program. It’s an exclusive opportunity, made available to about 30 of Gannett’s 4,000+ journalists. The program is for high-potential team members who demonstrate leadership, think strategically, and have influence that spans their responsibilities. I was nominated by Chris Lloyd (General Manager of Reviewed), David Kender (Editor in Chief of Reviewed), and Scott Stein (VP + General Manager of USA TODAY).
